The first night will be spent in a cosy hotel in the small town of Sundre, about 130km northwest of Calgary. The next morning you will be transferred to our Base Camp in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. After a small lunch in camp there is time for a 2 hours ride which gives everybody the chance to get familiar with the horses and the western riding gear. On day 2, after a hearty cowboy breakfast, we saddle the horses, load up our covered wagon and head out on a six hours ride further into the Canadian Rockies. The Adventure Camp is located on a cliff above the Clearwater River, surrounded by untouched wilderness. The camp includes sleeping tents (with two cots, sleeping bags, wood stove), a cozy kitchen tent, a washtent with shower possibility and our fire tent. We will spend long hours in the saddle and the trails will lead us high up the Mountains to “Forty Mile Ridge”, to the glacier lake “Lost guide lake”, to the border of Banff National Park and a lot more spectacular places where we might get a glimpse of a wolf, wapitis or a bear.
After a cowboy supper we will gather around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and listening to stories and tales until the whispering river sends us to a good nights sleep.
The access to our Adventure Camp is weather permitted and it is up to the hosts to decide when river conditions make a safe trip to the Adventure Camp impossible. In such a case, we will be staying in Base Camp, where countless trails and beautiful scenery are waiting to be discovered by our guests.
